Videopremiere: «KEEP:3» by joyo ann

Zurich-based artists joyo ann released the EP Ctrl me last year, an unsteady collage packed with references to contemporary pop music. Their voice always hovers above it, in “unsatisfying interactions with sound and desperately circular redefinitions of identity.” joyo ann’s latest release, the video single “KEEP:3”, picks up on all this and turns it around: neo-dadaistic lines meet enigmatic R’nB(reakbeat), with everything always cute and morphing.

Visually, the collaged sound of joyo ann multiplies in AI animations that could find their place somewhere between furrycore and new-emo. Constantly morphing, the clip conveys the feeling of being very online and firmly anchored in the real world at the same time. Carrying the Dada tradition in their heart, joyo ann opts for the love of randomness, the affection for realness in dissolved identities and an interpretation of cuteness. They sing in German as if it were English and vice versa.
